Information For Poulshot

There are many groups in the Village that keep an eye out for those who need help on a regular basis and there is every confidence everyone will look out for each other.

We would encourage residents to download the following form notifying their neighbours that they are there to help. Simply print out and complete the form and post it through your neighbour’s letter box.
I Can Help
We have also provided a useful contact sheet that you may like to print and keep at home with the details of your immediate neighbours.
Know Your Neighbours
If groups or individuals in the Village have information they would like to share with the Village then please contact us and we will forward the details as needed and/or post updates and useful information onto this page.

The Friends and Neighbours group have established a panel of volunteers willing to assist any Village members who may be forced to self isolate during the current crisis. The assistance could be shopping, collecting medication etc. Anybody needing help should contact Pam (828151) or Kate (828333) for assistance.

The Village Hall Committee hope you will all stay healthy and encourage you to be aware and be safe.

Advice From Wiltshire Council

For the most up to date information on council services that may be affected by COVID-19 and health advice and information please visit Wiltshire Council's Website. Their page will be regularly updated for all service across the organisation and will hold all information in a central place.

All residents and key contacts in Wiltshire will be referred to this page.

Also to remind you Wiltshire Council have produced a community toolkit to support you and the community which contains useful information and links to key resources.

The Chief Medical Officer provided new advice around self-isolation on 16 March 2020 and Public Health England have updated their web pages so please review the updated information online

The advice remains that you should self-isolate at home for seven days if you have a recent onset of:

• A new continuous cough and/or
• High temperature

However, in addition, anyone living with someone who is self-isolating should now stay at home for at least 14 days to avoid spreading the infection outside of the home.

Council tax and business rates

To support people as much as possible during the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we have confirmed that no resident or business in Wiltshire will have to pay council tax or business rates until June 2020 if they are struggling.

Any resident wishing to defer paying their council tax in April and May 2020, instead of the normal scheduled payment break in February and March 2021, can contact us and this will be arranged.

Parking restrictions eased

To support residents and key workers during the ongoing Coronavirus situation, we have eased parking restrictions.

All car parks will be free and our parking enforcement service will be relaxed and focus primarily on serious contraventions. The enforcement service will continue to prevent incidents of obstructive or dangerous parking that could have a more significant impact on safety and access for emergency and essential services.

Rooms needed to house homeless

We are calling on all hoteliers, B&Bs, and Airbnb providers to come forward to offer accommodation to house homeless people in Wiltshire during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

Accommodation is particularly required in the south of the county.

Donating to foodbanks

Next time you do a food shop, if you can, please remember your local food banks. You can donate via the food bank donation boxes at your local supermarket.

Thank you for your help and support.

Crematoriums

Our seven cemeteries remain open to provide funeral services. However, to ensure that we can continue to operate safely protect staff and visitors, we have closed our onsite chapels and are following Government Guidance to permit only immediate family members to attend funerals. This has been defined by the Government as parents, partners, siblings and children.

Due to these restrictions families are welcome to record the service on their own tablet or mobile phone, provided the Celebrant or Minister makes an announcement at the commencement of the service to ensure they have everyone’s consent.

Have waste and recycling collections been disrupted?

All services continue to run. However, we are aware of delays to mixed dry recycling collections, following the introduction of new services. If your blue-lidded bin or black box has not been emptied on your new scheduled collection day, please leave your containers out and our contractors will visit as soon as they can.

Missed bin collection? Report it here

Waste tissues produced by someone who has or suspects they have COVID-19 should be placed in a plastic bag which should be tied when full. Disposable cloths or wipes used to clean hard surfaces such as kitchen worktops and bathrooms should also be placed in the same bag. This plastic bag should then be placed in a second bin bag, which should also be tied when full. The bags should be kept in a secure place until the individual’s test results are known. The bags should not be put out for collection or placed in communal waste areas until negative test results are known or the waste has been stored for at least three days.

After being stored for at least three days, please place these in your normal wheeled bin. If you don’t receive a wheeled bin collection, please make sure a council-issued bag label is placed on the outside of the double-bagged waste.
